On Friday we celebrated all of the children's growth as readers. We discussed the many strategies- or reading powers- that we have learned and continue to work on using independently and with confidence. As part of our celebration the children shared a favorite book from their personal libraries with the friends at their table. Together, with warm cups of hot chocolate in their hands, the readers shared, listened, and discussed.
Our reading workshop that morning was a little longer, a little warmer, and a little sweeter.
As your child shares their book with you this weekend, be sure to notice and celebrate when they use their pointer finger to help guide their reading or self-correct when they make a mistake. Invite your child to read to their sibling or family pet, because rereading helps to make our reading more smooth and expressive!
