kindergarten open house

Kindergarten Open House
8-17-17
a small collection of photographs from the children's visit

Families took the time to think deeply about their child and write their hopes and dreams on river rocks, decorating the rocks with colorful lines, patterns, and drawings. We will read and reference these hopes throughout the school year. The children will have the opportunity to reflect on their own hopes and dreams this year, as they learn and grow together.

The Kindergarteners chose their cubbies, designed a sign for their cubby, practiced the morning routine, and added their mark to our first collaborative piece; a painted branch. This branch will hang over our literacy shelf. The children's names and the three adjectives families have provided to describe their child will hang from our branch. These words will, like the hopes and dreams, be part of our conversations and reflections throughout the school year. At the end of the year the Kindergarteners will use all that they know about language and words to describe themselves using three adjectives - they will record these words with their end-of-the-year self portrait.

Thank you all for taking the time to visit the classroom before the start of school. I am looking forward to starting our Kindergarten journey together.
