reading partners

The Kindergarteners have been practicing being green zone reading partners. Using the zones of regulation provided children with a visual understanding of a successful partnership. An important part of their work has been their reflection around what a green zone partner looks like and feels like.

The children helped to compose our list;

Green zone partners. . .

Sit close together
Make a reading plan (who will read first? how will you read?)
Give kind reminders (our job is...)
Are part of a reading community (Sophie shared this thought as an essential part of being a partner!)

During our workshop throughout the week children engaged in private reading before transitioning to partner reading. We talked about how readers touch and read every page in a book and celebrated rereading - rereading helps us to learn more and makes our reading more powerful.

Partners bravely shared their work reading one book together. Below are a collection of photographs of green zone partners sharing their reading with their peers.
